The mission

We aim to reveal the key signaling pathways and mechanisms that link information from the environment to changes in plant growth and development. We are curious about how plants regulate the tradeoff between growth and defense and how they process multiple signals at the same time.

Research

The interaction of plant biotic and abiotic stresses

Study the interaction of shade and warm temperature with biotic stress using Botrytis cinerea and Pseudomonas syringae in tomato. The trade-off between growth and defense.

Interaction of light and temperature

Reveal the signaling pathways and mechanisms that regulate the response to shade from neighboring plants, the response to warm ambient temperatures, and their interaction using Arabidopsis and tomato as a model system.

Viruses resistance

Improve the resistance to viruses such as Tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV) using natural variation and genetic editing. Study the interaction of virus proteins with plant proteins.
